Loftness Specialized Equipment introduces its updated OS170 Orchard Spreader. The new model includes multiple features to enhance performance and maneuverability in modern orchards and vineyards.

With the OS170 customers can now choose between a variable-rate capable drive or the Loftness-exclusive hydraulic fixed-rate drive. The variable-rate option offers plug-and-play compatibility with controllers from all major manufacturers, as well as tractors equipped with ISOBUS technology, allowing operators to utilize fertilizer prescriptions for automatic rate adjustments. The new hydraulic fixed-rate drive option functions similarly to a ground drive, except it uses speed sensors and a hydraulic conveyor to detect ground speed and adjust spreading rates instead of a mechanical system with chains and sprockets, resulting in greater reliability and less maintenance.
Other updates include a new low rate kit, which enables the drive system to spread low rates of fertilizer, cover crop seed, or other materials. Changes to the body have been made as well. A shorter hitch allows better turning in tight spaces. Also, a redesigned top screen offers greater compatibility with a roll tarp.
The OS170 maintains some of its original features, such as dual stainless-steel spinners, a controlled spinner drive, and an optional banding attachment. Its narrow width and low-profile design work well in low clearances and narrow-spaced plantings, while offering an industry-leading capacity of 80 cubic feet.
